Searching Traffic Records in Lakeville
The Minnesota Courts Records Online system, known as MCRO, is the free public tool for looking up court case information statewide. Search by name, case number, or citation number at publicaccess.courts.state.mn.us. The system covers Dakota County and every other county in Minnesota. No account or login is needed and there is no fee.
Pre-conviction cases are not available through MCRO. If your citation is recent and still pending, it will not show up online. Call the Dakota County courthouse at (651) 377-7180 or visit in person for pending case status. Post-conviction records are available in MCRO and update hourly during business hours.
Public access computers at the courthouse also allow on-site record searches. Certified copies must be requested from the clerk, with a per-page fee. MCRO is read-only -- you cannot submit documents or pay fines through it.

Paying Traffic Fines in Lakeville
For payable Lakeville citations, you can pay online, by phone, by mail, or in person. Online payments go through webpay.courts.state.mn.us. A $2.34 convenience fee applies to online and phone payments. You must wait at least 7 days after your citation date before the payment portal will accept your ticket, because the citation needs time to be entered into the court system.
By phone, call the Court Payment Center at (651) 281-3219 (metro) or (800) 657-3611 (toll-free). To pay by mail, send a check or money order to: Court Payment Center, P.O. Box 898, Willmar, MN 56201. Write your citation number on the check so the payment is applied correctly. For in-person payment, visit the Apple Valley Western Service Center or the main courthouse in Hastings.
You have 30 days from the citation date to respond. Paying closes the case as a guilty plea. If you want to contest, notify the court before that deadline. Missing the deadline can lead to a default judgment and added consequences. If your citation was for no insurance, do not pay online -- submit proof of coverage first (fax to 320-231-6507) and follow up with court staff.
